Agility Prep AKC Style: Novice level

This agility class is designed for teams preparing to trial in the AKC venue. Teams should be comfortable performing obstacles at full height including 6 weave poles. Actual courses and handling drills will be offered. Information on reading an agility map, course walking, choosing the best handling option for your team, working on handling skills, safety, warm up and cool downs and obstacle performance. In addition, you will be given information on how to find trials, understanding and filling out premiums, what to bring to a trial, how to use Agility Gate and much more to make your trial experience a great one for you and your partner.

Applications are accepted with email confirmation on a first-come, first serve basis. Class will not be held for less than 4 teams, maximum of 6 teams.

Prerequisites: Completion of Foundations 3 or equivalent training skills. Skill level will be evaluated during the first class. Dogs need to be in control and on leash while other dogs are training in the fenced ring. Dogs must be a minimum of 12 months to participate.

Vaccination Records

If this is the first time your dog is attending one of our classes (or if your records may be out of date), you MUST supply your dog’s proof of up-to-date vaccination (Rabies and DHPP). Please upload your records now (be sure they have your name and dog’s name printed on the record) or bring them to the first class. Your vaccination records MUST be on file with us before you are permitted to participate in class.

Notes About Classes and Fees

1) SCCTC will notify you via email when your registration has been received. 2) Your registration is not confirmed until we receive payment (via PayPal or check). If you are paying by check you MUST bring a check to the first class (SCCTC charges a $35 fee for all returned checks). Make checks payable to: SCCTC. 3) You will receive an email from the Instructor at least 2 days prior to the first class with any particulars about what to bring, appropriate type of collar/leash, etc. 4) Unless notified otherwise, for “Puppy” and “Beginner 1” classes, the first class is for handlers only; dogs should not come until the second class. 5) After the first week of class with dogs, refunds are not available without the prior approval of appropriate Chair (Obedience, Agility or Scent Sports) or the Training Director.

Understand that we are responsible for the dogs and any visitors actions at all times, and that Star City Canine Training Club of Roanoke (“SCCTC”) may dismiss any dog or visitor for aggressive or unruly behavior.
Agree to hold harmless SCCTC, its members, directors, officers, agents, or instructors, and the owner or lessor of the premises in case of any accident, injury, or illness to me, my dog, or any member of my family or visitor, which, in any way, results from or arises out of participation in classes offered or sponsored by SCCTC, or while on (or adjacent to) the premises.
Agree not to hold SCCTC or its instructors responsible for any actions of my dog during or following the completion of any class.
