This class continues with the introduction of odor(s) used in Scent Work. This class builds on the foundation exercises done in Levels 1 – 4 but with odor. Typically, the first target odor (Birch) is used as well as other odors (Anise, Clove) being introduced. The concept of pairing is introduced to condition the dog to odor and to develop good sourcing through self-reward. Searches may expand to include other rooms or outdoors. At a minimum, birch odor will be needed for the Intro to SW / Odor Skill Building. Links to approved sources will be provided in class. This class will be held at the Star City Training Building, 1860 Apperson Drive, Salem, VA 24153.
